Limitation Of Ashtakoot Guna Milan in a Married Life

Today i would like to shed some light upon the discomforts/disgrace people are facing in their married life, despite of getting married after proper evaluation of their horoscopes, via Ashtakoot Guna Milan. Now first of all, we need to understand what exactly does the term “Ashtakoot Guna Milan” mean or refers to? Ashtakoot Guna Milan is an astrological system of matching the compatibility factor of the bride and the groom before getting married. In this system the Moon sign i.e rashi, Birth Nakshatras and the Moon’s Chart of the bride and groom are taken into account for assessing the compatability in between them.

In this astrological system, eight factors are considered into account, which are :

The weightage or Guna alloted to each factor is same as its serial number i.e 1 to 8 and totalling 36 as the maximum score. Here any scoring more than or equal to 18 points are considered to be Ok for getting married. In today’s world, everyone among us are familiar to computers and internet. There are several astroloigical softwares and astro based sites where anyone can easily feed the birth details of the bride and groom, and calculate the final scoring of their Ashtakoot Guna Milan. As stated earlier, any scoring more than or equal to 18 points are recommended for a happy marriage, so these softwares or astro sites recommend people for getting married, based on this grading.

In my practical observation, I see people who had scored 24 points, even people scoring 28, 30 or 32 points are not enjoying a happy married life. There are many cases of divorces, uncertain death of partner, infertility, misunderstandings & quarrels between husband & wife despite of these scorings. Here i mean to say that taking decisions of marriage, by relying solely on to Ashtakoot Guna Milan scoring may lead to discomfort & disgraced marital life.

Astrologically there are several factors that should be taken into account in addition to Ashtakoot Guna Milan scoring. A qualified astrologer needs to examine the lagna charts, strength of the ascendant and its ruling lord, strength of the 7th house and its ruling lord, Navmansha charts and its strength, stregnth and nature of venus and jupiter, temporal and natural friendship between the ruling lords of the ascendant and the 7th house, and so on from the horoscope of the bride and groom. Consideration of Manglik Dosham (Kuja dosham) should also be taken into account while making a marriage compatibility assesment.

In a horoscope, ascendant reflects to the native himself while the seventh house reflects to the native’s partner. Similarly, the position or strength of the ascendant and its ruling lord, or 7th house and its ruling lord, reflects the physical fitness status of the bride and groom. The natural and temporal relationship between the ascendant and the 7th house ruling lords, shows the status of the understandings and relationship between the bride and the groom.

The consideration of venus is a must while analyzing a birth chart. Venus is the karak graha of the 7th house and its strength or weakness affects the success or failure of a married life by 20%. If venus is ill placed in a chart then it may lead to possiblity of infertility. Similarly in a females’s horoscope the role of jupiter is very significant. Jupiter is termed to be the karak graha of husband. Its strength is responsible of longevity of husband & children longevity.

Similarly manglik dosham should also be taken into consideration before getting married .For detail information read my article on Marriage delay and problems in astrology you can see a lot of example and combination there regarding marriage matter instead of relying blindly on ashtakoot milan.we know Venus and Jupitar(Primary) as well as Mars,Moon(Secondary) are the karaka for mariage so these planet should be free from any malefic affliction ,Combustion,Debilitation, their navamsha position should be good.Malefic planet like Saturn ,Rahu ,Ketu and Mars in case they conjunct or aspect Jupitar,Venus and Moon and marriage should be avoided.

In short, we should not blindly rely only onto Ashtakoot scoring before getting married.
