Among the most fascinating features of Vedic astrology are Rahu and Ketu<\/strong>, the two lunar nodes that have no physical planetary body yet play an enormous role in interpreting karma, psychology, desires, attachments, transformation, and spiritual evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of their most distinctive characteristics is that Rahu and Ketu are almost always shown as retrograde (Vakri)<\/strong> in a horoscope. Unlike ordinary planets, whose apparent retrograde motion occurs only during particular periods, the lunar nodes naturally move backward through the zodiac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              At a philosophical level, the retrograde motion of Rahu and Ketu represents something much deeper than simply “moving backward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              16. Why Their Motion Is So Important in Transit Astrology<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

              Because Rahu and Ketu naturally move retrograde, their transits through the houses and signs are interpreted differently from ordinary planetary transits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Rahu and Ketu are retrograde because they are not physical planets but the ascending and descending nodes of the Moon<\/strong>, formed by the intersection of the Moon’s orbital plane with the ecliptic. These intersection points naturally move backward through the zodiac in a cycle of approximately 18.6 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Astrologically, their retrograde motion perfectly complements their symbolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
